The Best of Sorrento
Enjoy 6 nights in Sorrento while experiencing guided excursions, by day, along the beautiful coastline (Unesco Heritage) crossing Praiano, the fjord of Furore, Conca dei Marini, the Emerald Grotto, Amalfi and Ravello. Visit Paestum to see the ancient ruins and local farm producing the famous buffalo mozzarella. Off to Pompeii and Herculaneum. You may want to visit Capri with an optional excursion or take some free time to explore on your own. Air is based on departure from Boston or JFK with all major gateways are available.

Day 1 Depart from USA
Day 2 ARRIVAL (D)
When you arrive at the Naples airport, your Tour Leader will greet and transferred you to the hotel in Sorrento for check-in. Dinner in the evening.
Day 3 AMALFI COAST (B, D)
Today enjoy a full-day guided excursion driving along this beautiful coastline (Unesco Heritage) crossing Praiano, the fjord of Furore, Conca dei Marini, the Emerald Grotto and Amalfi. You will have free time to enjoy lunch on your own. Then up to Ravello, the village where Wagner found the inspiration to compose Parsifal. Visit the gardens of Villa Rufolo with its terrace and the beautiful landscape. Back to the
hotel. Dinner in the evening.
Day 4 Today an excursion Pizza Party.
2hr 30min farm tour followed by Pizza making lesson (chef hats and aprons provided) – everyone makes their own pizza using traditional pizza methods, bake in traditional oven and eat! Also included are antipasti (i.e. local cheese, mozzarella, olives, salami, various hams, bruschetta) mineral water and tiramisú as dessert.
Day 5 PAESTUM (B, L, D) Transfer to Paestum to visit the ancient ruins of this small town. After the visit, we will see a local farm that produces the famous buffalo mozzarella and will assist to the production. A lunch with tasting of mozzarella will follow. Back to the hotel. Dinner in the evening.
Day 6 POMPEII – HERCULANEUM (B, D)
In the morning, transfer by motor coach to the top of Pompeii to visit the most incredible archeological site with the ruins of the old city destroyed by the eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius in AD79. Amongst other monuments our guide will show you the Forum, the center of public life with its important government, financial and religious buildings and the theatre with 5000 seats built on a hill with ingenious acoustics. We will visit the House of the Fawn with its small bronze statue, the thermal baths, the Temple of Apollo and the Lupanaro, the oldest brothel with frescoes in every room which showed the services on offer. Transfer to Herculaneum and visit to the excavations for about two hours. The ruins of Herculaneum were discovered by accident in 1709 when digging a well and are different from those of Pompeii in that they are submerged under a bank of tufa rock which is 8 to 10 meters thick. Only seven insula (groups of houses on streets that meet at right angles) are actually open to the public. Back to the hotel in the afternoon to enjoy some free time. Dinner in the evening.
Day 7 CAPRI – OPTIONAL EXCURSION OR FREE TIME, the choice is yours! (B, D)
Optional excursion to Capri. Breakfast, meeting with the guide and transfer to the port where you will experience a jet boat transfer to the Blue Island of Capri. You will visit the famous "Piazzetta", Anacapri, the Gardens of Augustus based on weather conditions, a visit to the "Blue Grotto" or a tour of the Blue Island by boat. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon transfer back to the hotel. Dinner in the evening.
Day 8 DEPARTURE (B)
Morning at leisure. Transfer to Naples airport for departures back to the USA.
